Going Single, Returning Double - SGtrip (Fri,30Mar-Tues,3Apr 07)

It's shopping..Orchard Road

Somerset Service Apartments
View all 24 photos...
Thinking me being a two-timer? Not even close.
I was innocently referring to experiencing a single decker Aeroline bus from PJ-SIN and ending the trip with a double-decker bus from SIN-KL.

There is so much to write. Oh, how do I begin? As the song goes…
At 11.05am, the bus departed from Menara Axis in PJ and off we were to Singapore.
Meals were served on board. We were served “Nasi Lemak Tropika”, a combo of fried chicken, rice and fried egg. Had a quick 20-min pit stop at Pagan to ease ourselves before continuing the journey on to Singapore.

After just being in Singapore for close to 5 days (incorporating days of travel), I find the MRT so easily accessible, convenient, super clean, efficient…in fact, Singapore is really so close to Australia that I am starting to like it. Well, perhaps there is nothing much to do really (besides shopping and eating), the life is quite good. Now I understand why so many people aspire to work in the lion city. No doubt we hear endless things about Singapore being a kiasu city, working there still seems quite appealing for people in need for a change in life.

Anyways, I must say proudly that I am lucky to have a friend who lives along Orchard Road in an expensive, cosy service apartment, nearby Somerset MRT station. I can imagine the price of these places...no wonder only expatriates and corporate people get to afford such a place.
It's a hotel - yet, homely and nice. The closest venue one can ever get to shopping - just a mere walking distance from shopping havens such as OG and Centerpoint and to the soon-to-be constructed Orchard Sentral! Orchard Road is endless shopping for people! Well, if you got the $, there's no limit!

As Chui Yee had her own functions on Friday night, I enjoyed my own Double Chocolate Frappe in Centerpoint till midnight...enjoyed the coolness of the shopping night as people were still doing late-nite shopping (last Friday of the month is midnight shopping for some places). Nice start.

Saturday: Spent the day visiting friends. Wonderful surprise indeed! Didn't expect to meet more friends than planned...but it was so nice seeing Connor (and fiance), Shahu, Francis and Chee Yong.... and then, tea time with Kun Lin and Wei Quan brought back sweet memories of our days in Australia, and how much we yearn to treasure those memories. Many people have moved on with their lives, but it will always be nice to know where he/she is and keep in touch from time-to-time.
Sadly, I didn't get to see Hitomi...was really hoping that she would be in Singapore when I arrived.
Fret not, I hope to see her again end of the year (which means, that I look forward to Connor's wedding too! *Wishing them all the best in advance*)

Sat nite : One of the main reasons of me being there - the Phantom of the Opera concert at Esplanade!
Flawless, spectacular performance. It was just beautiful..the singing..the props...I have never experienced such a performance. Can't believe that I watched a show at the Esplanade! It's like a dream...
it was certainly worth the while even though our seats were high up Circle 3) and mm..a bit scary at a start. But, all the 'vertigo' feeling washed away as soon as the lights were dim and musical set into motion.
After all that excitement, Chui Yee treated me to a special hot chocolate drink (as in the pictures) - we melted the chocolate ourselves and drank up. What a feeling...

Think that is all to consider Sat night over with? Chui Yee and I made a quick decision to hop off the bus 1 stop earlier to catch a midnight movie at Cathay cinema. It was sooo funny...we were already late for the Mr Bean movie, so we decided to settle for another movie. The problem was that we did not know which movie was good (the selections were dif from Msia), so we went with so-called "selling fast" tickets!
Won't say that it was a bad choice, but it was only then after the movie did we know that there were more popular movies to watch. Our choice i.e. "The Freedom Writers" was not bad, actually - it touched on an emotional part within - witnessing the stories of black people struggling through life just to survive the hardships. *Sniff* Another teary moment.

Sat night ends well with a safe, night walk back from Cathay to 'home'. Singapore is safe for midnight walks...it feels wonderful to be out with no worries.

Chinese New Year 2nd Day

Visit from Melaka folks
Let's "lo" Yee Sang

View all 14 photos...
It's up and about on 2nd day of the New Year.
Received a nice visit from Melaka folks (Uncle Kgyn and family)...

Next stop to Uncle Henry's place to see popo and 'ma yi' Uncle Henry, Auntie Oi Choo & family...
Before making our way to Uncle Brace's place for yummy brunch, had a brief stopover at Bobok's house

Most pictures below were taken at Uncle Brace's house where everyone was...or the main action took place early this afternoon when the WHOLE family was there.
Well, since I missed my '1st day of CNY' in KL, this was another time for the whole family to gather,
"lo" yee sang and enjoy a nice meal / chit-chat / play / catch up.

CNY is the best time really...in terms of food, family reunions...what more can one ask than the spirit of belonging in a place where people love and care for each other
GONG XI FA CAI!

Year 2007 & moving forward

Most people will usually expect a brand New Year to start with a bang! Of course, it would be nice if things turn out well, and the door to abundant opportunities opens up to you...

However nicely said, life always has its way of surprisingly itself... spicing up things when one leasts expects it, be it for the better, or for the worse.
When things change, which it most certainly do, but no matter how prepared we are...sometimes it is not as easy practising to be at peace with the change.
It is only this early in the year - too early to tell...but moving forward, looking ahead - lots of changes are expected to happen, consequences that we have to live with and sometimes hurt that we have to let go. Just hope that I'll survive it all.
We should always cherish the wonderful people around us - people who have made our lives more meaningful and special...
Don't look back at the past in regret, but look ahead and remember that these person(s) has touched your life and it was a blessing to be able to get to know him/her.

May all of us have a blessed, well and happy life ahead!

My Birthday! Best kept secret for at least half a day! Not bad...
An annual birthday routine was usually a quiet dinner out spent surrounded by closest family members, but this year 2007 decided to take a twist for itself - with my firm imposing a compulsory briefing at 5.45pm (immediately after work at client's place) for official launching of SNG (small network groups) in the FS industry, followed by dinner at The Cotton Club (a Jazzyrestaurant located at Maju Junction, a brisk 5 mins walk across from office).
Sounds nice, sounds glamour? Perhaps not all that fun, when the company whom you thought you would be spending dinner with was totally way out of your expectations. *Sigh*
But, as usual...life surprises you when you least expect it. A night of expecting to be 'alone' on my birthday - I ended up having a great time with a friend, hanging out at Bangsar Village..savouring lovely chocolate mousse cake...coer noir...tiramisu ... yum yum

Next day...Saturday...a great day to catch up with Cheryl - back from Australia and my friends..
Meet up with Cheryl & Michael & Cheryl's cuz, Fui Yoon, Jesse, Ghim Joo, CK...at Nasi Kandar Pelita, walking distance from KLCC...
Quick breakfast, but really lovely being out for a change.

Night time out was an even more special time for me to reward myself for a long awaiting wonderful orchestral performance . Well, special thoughts should be kept locked with special feelings.

Well, birthdays should be celebrated with people you care - family first...
Decided to bring mum and dad to the surprisingly hidden Thai "palace" in the midst of Sungai Buloh nursury... for exquisite Thai food - lovely ambience, lovely place. It's called "De ChiangMai", by the way...

Photos at the bottom....

a) Korean BBQ at Hanwoori @ Taipan, USJ
Did you see the side dishes? Seriously...that's a lot of food!!!

b) Chinese New Year deco flowers at Auntie Oi Choo's place...
posted it all on this page as they were only downloaded from my handphone recently.
[Lazy to create another page just for it ]

Hmm....special thoughts.....with special feelings ...... *sparks my curiosity* Happy birthday to u gurl ! Tue 9-Jan-2007 08:35

China Trip - Hainan Island

Family trip to Hainan Island, China was an exciting trip for my family (not for me - because I was unable to go). Yes, seriously - I am pasting these wonderful photos of places I had not had a chance to go ... due to work commitments...well.. other things. No regrets, because I have these nice pictures to appreciate and enjoy the good times my family members had together for 1 week in China.

Perhaps one day I will make my footprint mark on China soil...land of Beijing perhaps?

KSP Nite 2006 @ Nikko Hotel

Yong Lim, Heng Hee, Mie and Steven
Close friends - seniors
Jerrica and myself
View all 14 photos...
KSP Nite 2006 at Nikko Hotel wasn't really up to my expectations. Suddenly the image of the elegant Grand Ballroom where I stepped in years ago (being a bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding) crumbled to pieces upon seeing the cramped-up room, crowded with loads and loads of people...
Heng Hee and I were extremely late (the lateness mainly contributed by me - unable to get off work on time, and time-taken to commute home), but he was kind enough to wait for me
Dinner commenced at 7pm, but we only arrived quarter to 9pm - missing up most of the main courses and well, performances.
Not sure why but I felt that last year's KSP was far better, in terms of venue, food, performance.
Gosh, I paid RM15 but I had nothing more than a sip of wine, and probably 2 eggtart desserts!

But, hey...long days like this don't necessary have to end on a bad note. After dropping Jesse off at home in Wangsa Maju, I marked my own history by going back to office (when all PwC staff are partying at KSP nite) at 1am in the morning... Mm...lots of things happened...personal surprises...but shall not go into that here
Do look forward to the many more 'surprises' in my life, hopefully good ones, and not upsetting ones.

Long weekend's here!

What a day!

I really should start thinking of blogging when everything's afresh in the mind, and it feels good to just type it out on a personalized page, and to read it over and over again (and smile )
What a day at work it has been! I learnt the pains about learning to coach and guide new team members - a challenge to the test, but perhaps it's part of the learning process at work.
Felt bottled up with no one to talk to since everyone's away for holidays this Christmas season.
Chui Yee's holidaying in HK, Woei King's off to Taiwan, and my family away on their own getaway.
Luckily, there's a kind soul who cares about me and asks me about my day - and it makes me thinking back about our long phone conversation..something not-so-often done during the peak season when everyone's busy with work. December 2006 is almost marking its closure and another year will be up in no time. *Sigh* Doesn't seem that Christmas will be a fun day since I'm alone. Well, maybe Christmas shopping will cheer up the mood Advance MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

Back to school...SMKDJ has changed!

New look

Block D classes
View all 8 photos...
Times have changed...school has changed! I can't recall exactly when was the last time I paid a visit back to secondary school to visit my fav teachers...but it definitely has been a long time.
"Taylor's Walk" definitely wasn't there...neither were many of the new buildings that have mushroomed over the years. Additional blinds were put up to shield the Form4 classes from the sun along Block D...classes that sadly, now look a little shabby and unkempt during the long school holidays. Brought my camera to snap pictures for my brother's Form 5 Moral project - ie. projecting a hardworking image of school student caring for the school.

Mm..next entry should be around Christmas time...can't wait till then.
I feel the warmth of Christmasy already!!! Dun ya all??
