Kuantan trip
|
|
I was so happy upon receiving the SMS from my dad at camp that we were confirmed going to Kuantan. Local trip, no doubt...but it was certainly a getaway for me from the rat race in KL. I needed a break after a long audit engagement (those who worked with me then would pray to be released from the job asap ). Anyway, I was more than overjoyed to find myself packing hurriedly the night before the trip right after camp and travelling together with mum, dad and Wayne all the way to Kuantan the next morning.
Mm...basically nothing much to see there, but eating lots of seafood is a MUST!
We had the opportunity of visiting the Batik factory along Jalan Beserah...a long long road with plenty of seafood restaurants meeting your gaze as you cruise along.
Teluk Chempedak is one of the nicest spots definitely! White sand, amazing natural rock formations - I loved it! Like most people enjoying the beach, a cone of cornetto marks the spot!
Great 2 day trip - I enjoyed the every moment of it...
who says that local trips ain't fun?

7th B.I.S.D.S. Children's Fellowship Camp 2005
|
|
2 eventful days of getting my hands full with kids. Being a facilitator in a Chlidren's Camp is a challenge I must admit! Kids nowadays can surprise you left-right-centre!
Try being kind to them and they will climb all over you
However, it was a memorable experience indeed.
Don't know what else to say...but to laugh as I dwell on the funny moments at some points during the camp... especially on the kids thinking that I am old and possibly married!
Overall, despite breaking camp early, I had a great weekend indeed

Wesak Day!!! (The Spirit of Wesak at Brickfields Maha Vihara)
|
|
Wesak is here!!! This year's emphasis was on procession on Wesak Day.
Being my first time joining the 4-hour long procession, I was so tired as we reached back to temple.
Aching legs, headaches ensued 2 days after....
Was it worth it? An experience to remember for me.
Wesak Day! Nothing like making an aspiration being a good Buddhist and to continue walking the Dhamma way...
Sadhu! Sadhu! Sadhu!
May all beings be well and happy.

UQ Alumni dinner!!! The invitation from UQ striked me with high spirits on a good note!
I wanted to go so badly, that I applied for leave to go. Half-day leave... hard to get..but eventually I got it Definitely worth it - for the inspirational and memorable classical music performance (I could just be carried away by the music), the FREE food, the chance to meet friends, lecturers.... I am so glad that I made it!
Memories may remain memories...but the night refreshes my thoughts of university campus life. Thoughts of attending lectures, joining campus activities, language classes....
formal dinner events, living in union college, trips with friends....the list is endless.
Life at alma mater - will always treasure and continue to cherish.

Cambridge daytrip + Conclusion
|
|
Doesnâ??t the name just tingle with the thought of high- class UK education?
Visiting Cambridge was an impromptu plan, actually. Heard that it was scenic and worth going over to visit. I was in Cambridge for a day tripâ?¦ just hopped on the bus at Victoria Station in London & got a map to navigate the area.
The moment I alighted the bus, the strong cold hit me real hard! It was not just COLDâ?¦it was SNOWING in Cambridge!!! Oh myâ?¦ I have never seen snow fall from the sky every before. Lovely flakes from the sky covered the ground for a short while. It was soooo cold â?? Freezing! My brain only told me to seek shelter â?? warmth â?? hot chocolate!
Took a while to stop my teeth from chattering before stepping outside from the warm café to walk around.
Like Oxford, the main highlights are the colleges. Mostly old architecture too, but the place is more scenicâ?¦ beautiful as well. I found the Backs (bridges) fascinatingâ?¦
mmâ?¦must be something about rivers and bridges that attracts me.
I went up Castle Mount too. A small hill, from where you can overlook the whole city of Cambridge. Nice picturesque view of the city.
Of course, things should have been better if I knew someone from Cambridge to bring me around the colleges. Then again, itâ??s lovely walking around on your own with no rush.
~This concludes a huge chapter in my life - my travel adventure to UK. In brief, AWESOME trip. J'adore UK!!! ~
p/s: Of course, it's impossible to post up all my pix (about 500 pix, i think!)

Oxford (City of Dreaming Spires)
|
|
Been looking forward to visit my good friend, Herng Yih in Oxford for ages!
Even a casual dinner in a small cosy restaurant feels different.
I felt that people carried themselves with a sort of â??classâ??. Of course, this is OXFORD!
Oxford is a city renowed throughout the world as a center of learning; rich in history and steeped in tradition. Oxford provides a feast of architectural beauty with its mellowed college buildings and lovely quadrangles (quoted from Oxford guidebook)
The biggest college is Christ Church â?? where the famous Harry Potter movie was filmed.
Sadly, the hall was closed to visitors for the day. However, having branch at Hertford College (famous for its â??Bridge of Sighsâ??) was really nice too.
I should say that I am truly fortunate to enjoy the privilege of being present as a guest in a formal hall dinner at Oxford. Wowâ?¦ thanx HY
Apart from majestic colleges, another thing I enjoyed most about Oxford was strolling along the â??Isisâ?? (river), popular for recreational boating as it winds about the countryside.
Oxford, City of Dreaming Spires â?? place embedded with rich tradition, and great beauty.
My moments spent in Oxford is beyond descriptionâ?¦ feelings that I felt while I was there shall not be explained.

More of London
|
|
More pictures of London. 2 weeks isnâ??t enough to experience all â?? but I am glad that I had a chance to experience musical, play, concerts in such a short period of time.
This trip gave me not only a chance to tour England (which has been a dream all along), but also to visit friends, make NEW friendsâ?¦most of all, to enjoy myself and give myself a big break I deserve before starting a new transition in life soon.
It has been lovely holidaying in Englandâ?¦ I really love it there.
Would be nice if I can visit there again, and this time, tour Europe as well.
If only dreams do come trueâ?¦ * winks * Shall have to wait and see.
