Meeting Cheryl once again!

We look so cute together, dun u think?
All the girls!
Thorn among the roses :P
Cheryl's back from Australia for a brief stop in KL!!! Doesn't she just makes us feel proud - top scorer, UQ Hons student...expected soon-to-be one of the key employees of a Big 4 company in Brisbane.
Fabulous!!! I feel proud to know such a friend who is deep down also a truly kind-hearted girl, and really nice and caring person

Due to my tight corporate-girl schedule (haha, it's more like 'typical auditor's erratic schedule'), I arranged a quick meet-up at 1 Utama to meet Cheryl. Initially invited more to attend, but
only Jesse and Fui Yoon could make it.

Just a short pix session at Starbucks, 1 Utama with Cheryl, Michael, Cheryl's cuz, Jesse, Fui Yoon and myself to remmeber this

hi very nice your fotopage!!! Mon 13-Mar-2006 18:46

Planning in progress - mum armed with a pen and paper, taking notes and having thorough discussions with the 'main organizer' i.e. my 2nd aunt (Bobok). To have or not to have an open house? Green light!!! Ready, get set go! Plan goes into motion.

Busy afternoon it was, scrambling to Giant supermarket to purchase ingredients and necessities. Next stop, ensuring that everything was nice and in orderly manner - we needed to plan how to put the table and chairs to accommodate everyone.
Oh GREAT...it started to pour. Good omen it must have been, for the light shower was greatly welcome to cool the scorching heat that we have been facing through the New Year.

By the time dinner commenced....the weather was just PuRfecT! Cool and nice

Dinner was mm......DeLLLLicccious!
A special thank you to Bobok and Uncle Mok for the oooh...lazat...
Thai Fish, Crabs, Toufu, Rendang......yummy...!!!
Started off with YEE SANG (of course ) and ending with mm...chocolate cake and fruit cocktail

CNY is the best time ever! (Alwiz )

Port Dickson - half day trip

Sunrise along the highway
Early morning..
The beach, yeah!
View all 18 photos...
Rise and Shine! It's 5am in the morning!!!
With my eyes barely open, mum, dad, Wayne and I washed up quickly, had a light breakfast and hopped into dad's car - we're leaving for PD!

My aunt rented an apartment (Tanjung Tuan resort) for all relatives to freely come and enjoy the beach. Since my family and I had our own individual plans back home in PJ, we decided to just make the half day trip to spend a relaxing day at the beach as I was the one so keen on
going to the beach!

Simple lunch...we had nasi lemak, lontong and some noodles for lunch with Uncle Brace and my 3 cousins (Chloe, Su Ann and Shaun). Spent most of the time dipping in the sea...and strolling along the white sandy beach.

Loved it! Doesn't the waves and the beach just take your breath away every single time???

Wow....i see a budding photographer here....reaching up to Meijoon's standards dee. Hehehehe. Nice pix, altho i'd love to see more of the sea. Sun 26-Feb-2006 13:46

Chinese New Year 2006

Family Photo
Once more... say cheese!
Mum and Dad - lookin' good as ever

Gong Xi Fa Cai!!!

New Year's Eve - New Year's Day #1 - Melaka.
It's all RED this season! Looks like only *me* in the pix...but my other aunts and cousins were also dressed in red to celebrate this festive season.
As usual, my family and I spend our 1st 2 important days in Melaka with dad's family.
Reunion dinner was extra-special and homely this new year with warm, welcoming home-cooked steamboat to tease out tastebuds. My dad's eldest brother (whom the younger nieces/nephews call "Be-deh" in our Chinese dialect) had just moved to a new home.
Furnished with really nice interior designs, and oh some quaint electronic fans which I have never seen before...in addition to various house decorating tips, I had a good tour of double storey home. Mm... additional conventional and useful tips for my future 'dream home'

New Year's Day was exceptionally wonderful as well. Angpow collecting at its best - of course! Many surprises installed this year - wedding bells....cousin leaving for overseas...sharing stories on what's hot, what's not...

It's back to KL for 2nd day onwards with mum's family...
Despite all the good things that I mentioned, sadly to say that I fell sick on CNY 1st day and am still suffering a bit today.
Horrible feeling... but the festive spirit must go on!

Till next update, CNY cheerios to all

Countdown to New Year 2006

Chuan Jye and Hau Jie
Hau Jie and Ti Kean
Chui Yee and me
View all 13 photos...
To kick-start a brand new year 2006, I needed to do something DIFFERENT for once in my life!
Ushering the New Year with friends has been something I had wanted to do, but have Never done till this very year. All previous years were spent being couch potatoes and lazing by the telly watching some supposely New Year blockbusters on HBO.

To brilliant capture the last-few-hour moments in my mind... I'll spend a little time describing what my friends and I did to usher in 2006!!!

The 'journey' started about 7pm-ish when Chuan Jye & Ti Kean came to pick me up from home...followed by picking Chui Yee. We were heading to Zakura (Jap restaurant in Plaza Mont Kiara), where Mun had made bookings...when we FORGOT Hau Jie! oops!
Ti Kean, CJ, Chui Yee and I were totally engrossed with our tales of Pangkor and Labuan... We had to make a BIG detour at Eastin Hotel and headed back to PJ to pick Hau Jie.

Most of our photos taken were at Zakura...the Jap restaurant. Yoke Mun booked a special room just for all 9 of us. Our own private room...wow...
Our very special guest was May Jean Welcome back to Malaysia...and yes, welcome back to PwC too !

After a hearty Jap meal at Mont Kiara (which we had lots of ala carte dishes, and mm...
hot sake to go with), we headed on to Baskin Robbins for a lil ice-cream.
And if that wasn't enough, we travelled to Friendster cafe (in Damansara Perdana) with intentions of reaching there before midnight to witness the fireworks at Ikano and the Curve
To share a bit of a funny tale...Chuan Jye took a wrong turning (oops!) and we ended up on Kerinchi link heading to Federal Highway!
Finally....finally...almost reaching Damansara Perdana, we were caught in traffic....
the fireworks began (indicating the stroke of midnight), and darn...we were still in traffic jam!
But all's not lost as we (Ti Kean, CJ, Chui Yee, Hau Jie and myself) enjoyed the view from the road. There were cars double-parked, triple-parked...etc etc..people hoping out from the cars just to capture a good view from a distance. I've never seen such a sight!

We reached Friendster cafe about 10 mins after 12am. Still enthralled by the sight of fireworks, we parked the car quickly and continued watching the bright lights in the sky.
Aww..the fireworks are really amazing.. Fireworks were lightening up the sky from the Curve and Ikano simultaneously.
(Makes me think about Brisbane's RiverFest - now, that was still the BEST, but this will do
)

We spent time playing 'Chor Tai Tee' in Friendster cafe..followed by Jenga.
I wasn't that enthusiastic though (coz I was already slumped on the chair, half asleep).
Reached home about 3am. Way past curfew time

Labuan on Business, not leisure

Ship docks behind my hotel...

View all 17 photos...
A jot in my fotopage brings pleasure. My trip to Labuan (Mon, 26 Dec - Fri, 30 Dec 2005) was
supposely strictly business and no leisure. It was only on the first day whereby I had time to enjoy the breezy and cooling weather in this tiny Federal Territory in East Malaysia.
Staying at Waterfront Hotel (possibly next best hotel after Shereton) enabled me to enjoy complete SEAVIEW (no beaches though) and capture huge ships on candid camera.

I was intrigued by some of my findings during my brief stay in Labuan:
a) Labuan has NO Mcdonalds in the whole island!
b) There are only 2 KFCs and 1 Pizza Hut....
c) No cinemas...except for a 1 shop-lot theatre situated in the town centre
d) Labuan (and Sarawak too, surprisingly) does not have the privillege to celebrate Deepavali as there is not enough Indian population.
Weird, huh.
e) Prices of goods are SAME to KL - yes...a bowl of noodles is also RM4-ish...
f) Only good stuff is the duty free items - the usual: cigarettes and liquor.
And yes, CARS are cheap.... really cheap compared to West Malaysia.
g) What's good? Seafood, duty free products, and mm...a change in environment.
h) Lots of expatriates. It's amazing seeing many foreigners on Malaysian soil.
Most are here because of the off-shore banks etc. Lots of foreign banks here at Financial Service park.
Population wise.... more Malays (hence, hard to get Chinese food), but the irony,
more Chinese businessmen.
i) I've been to the supposely BEST Chinese Restaurant in town. It's situated in a hotel, and the place is really small.... was informed that this is the very restaurant commonly selected for wedding receptions and other events.
j) Yes, the town is SUPER SMALL! Just 5 mins away from Financial Services Park (my office) + near Hotel - Airport (with no traffic jam....). I noted that cabbies normally cruise at 60 km/h . There's no need to rush anyway....hardly any traffic light. Hardly any traffic at all.
k) Seafood recommended at Mavilla Yacht Restaurant. A 5 min cabbie ride from Financial Service park. Nice view overlooking the South China sea at night while you enjoy a scrumptuous seafood meal. Yummy

l) Mini busses still parade the island. Heard from the local (my client) that busses aren't frequent. Cabbies are still better, I guess.
m) Oh....people are super friendly. Pizza Hut waiters/ waitresses won't stop 'bugging' you to see whether the food is okay, and whether you need any assistance. Haha
n) Without having to mention, Labuan town is really small...hence, peaceful and quiet.
It only takes about 25 mins to drive from one end to the other (from what I hear).
Maybe boring to some extent in terms of entertainment, but if you ask my personal opinion,
many are here possibly to retire, and just enjoy the solitudes of life.
Basic necessities are here...just not much more than that.
The island is closest to Sabah. I think it takes an hour to fly to Kota Kinabalu.

This concludes my short stay in the island of Labuan. Not too far from home i.e. West Malaysia. .Hehe. Just a 2 1/2 hour flight from KLIA. Quite pricy though...MAS return ticket costs RM900-ish.

Signing off, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006!
May this coming new year bring happiness and peace to all of us

Genting Highlands day-trip

Christmas is here!
Santa...ho ho
Mum and Dad enjoying lunch
View all 17 photos...
Need a getaway...quick and short!
This Genting trip was a last-minute 'hop-on-the-wagon and go!' kinda trip. Mum said that my brother, Wayne deserved a break before Form 4. And for myself...of course, a family trip no matter how short is still a trip!
Genting was my choice. Hehe. The last time I went up the Highlands was with Chui Yee before Aussie.... ah...nice memories
Countless radio advertisements on the all NEW 4D motion master sounded intriguing.
Since it was ages ago since my last family trip to Genting, I thought it was great to organise a trip there again.

Christmasy spirit is definitely in the house. Carolling...youths wearing classy Santa costume, boost with enthusiasm to spread the Christmas cheers...
Christmas is always nice... even though I personally don't celebrate it.
But the feeling..the thought of Christmas really hits a special chord within, don't you agree?

Well, Genting Highlands it is. I'm tired after a long day... but satisfied

8th Anniversary Ti-ratana Dinner @ Desa Water Park, KL

Astro Talent Quest Champion 2001
Little Rachel Lian! My..she's only 7 or 8 years old!
Shaolin performance
View all 9 photos...
My attendance at this dinner was greatly unexpected. Given a 'one-day-before' invitation and a 'mere 2 hours before dinner' notice, I found myself getting ready quickly and dashing off to this charity event organised by the Ti-ratana Welfare Home in conjunction with its dazzling 8th Anniversary celebration. Huge event indeed - I was utmost surprised!
Had dinner together with Bobok and Uncle Mok.

Despite Ti-ratana's name being affliated to various social and welfare events, this fund-raising charity dinner could be said to be one BIG event! Not just big in terms of people turn-outs, but even Malaysian celebrities came! Our English emcee was none other than Patrick Teoh (ex-radio 4 Broadcaster) and Vivian Tok (for Chinese). There were performances all the way from Shanghai Acrobatic International Troups, singing sensation Eric Lim , Astro Talent Quist Champion 2001, Entertainment from Rachel Lian (small petite little girl who has voice for wonders), Miss Malaysia Top Winners!!! Everyone was in a rush to snap a photo with Miss Malaysia 2005 - perhaps since this is the only sole opportunity when she's not mobbed by paparazzi and press and tight security guards

One thing I enjoyed was the Dance performance by William & Louisa Danceworld.
There were variations from quick swift dances to slow ones. Impressive...
I wish I could dance to that music

Auctions too! First item was the statue of Kuan Yin carved in Vietnam with bids starting from RM2000. Big 'battle' between 2 ladies ensued with the emerging winner of RM5000 last bid! The 2nd item was a big change! It was a painting done by a Malaysian with some international recognition in Caligraphy 2005 - unfortunately since the bidding began at RM2800, there were no takers last nite. Too expensive perhaps

Among all, I enjoyed the performances...like the usual Li Foong, photo-taking is enjoyable and pleasurable enough to 'skip' meals just to snap away and enjoy the front-stage events
