Day Trip to Ayutthaya
|
|
The day started at 7.00am, when Tiffany and I got onto a tour van to take us to Riverside, where we joined in our tour passengers to visit the city of Ayutthaya (pronounced A·yut·thay·a (ä-yū'tə-yä'))
We visited 3 places...mostly old historical buildings, ruins of monuments..lots of history about the Thai kings..Rama I-VIII. It was interesting as our tour guide, Andy was quite a jovial person, and he
really knew his stuff pretty well.
I couldn't help wondering why the Buddha images didn't have heads..so sad..
but apparently, they were all destroyed during the clashes and wars..
While visiting those places, there were actually some rules to adhere to, including not
taking photos at inappropriate places...as per one of the pictures below on the "Don'ts"
Afternoon was fun and relaxing...enjoyed a cruise along Chao Phraya River back to Bangkok city..
I like these kinda things..just relax over a meal.. and enjoy the ride, photo-taking...
Finally, we are back in the city. 2 gals can't sit still....we wanted to check out the night markets!
We dared ourseves to visit Silom ... the ill-favoured of Bangkok's markets..Patpong area...
As expected, night clubs and bars populated the area...with guys persuading passerbys to watch "notty" shows. I guess that doesn't need any further explanation.
We stayed there for a while, and went on to visit Suan Lum Night Bazaar..which is so much nicer!
Tiffany and I bought some dresses...and a few things at the market.
Better still, the night was cool...and it was opened till midnight. The walk there was long..as we weren't sure of the road..but fun...when we finally got there and walked around till 10-ish pm.
Oh, wanna hear something funny?
The trip cost each of us THB1,900, equivalent to almost RM190...
and my return ticket KL-Bangkok is RM189! Wow..I could already fly to Bangkok twice for the same price.
Then again, give up on this opportunity to visit a nice place? It is worth it
Special dedication as 20th November is Tiffany's birthday! I'm sure you had lots of fun, gal!!!

Shopping, sightseeing Bangkok + Enjoying Red Sky@ Centera Grand
|
|
We spent our whole day shopping from mall to mall..basically, spending most of the time at Platinum Shopping Mall, which I enjoyed the most!
Central World, Siam Paragon are more expensive places...with nice decorations..with Christmas
atmosphere setting in, I'm already feeling very Christmasy.
And, did you know that Bangkok has winter? Not snowy weather, but sunny and cool wind!
Nice... I bought some shawls and it was good walking out from place to place.
Japanese food at Fuji was delicious; price of a bento is reasonable...lots of nice Jap food to eat!
Night time was awesome. Tiffany and I reserved a place for two to enjoy a lovely candlelight meal
on the 55th floor at Red Sky..at Centera Grand Central World Plaza. It was so heavenly...sipping our
cocktail drinks...enjoying the breeze, the lovely night views...
romantic place to be with a someone special.

Bangkok Trip - 1st day! + Calypso Cabaret Performance
|
|
Yay! I'm finally free and away from home for a long deserved vacation.
Bangkok seems near, but the moment I touched down and immersed myself in a
Thai-speaking community atmosphere, I know that I am in a totally different country.
Albeit being mistakenly identified as a local Thai Chinese, I guess it amazed me
how easily I blended in among the locals with language disadvantage!
We walked around the city for a while, before going for the Calypso Cabaret show.
Wow - Hot performances!! For 600 BHT, you get to watch "beautiful" performers
strut along the stage in a musical and comedy performance.
One of the audience (front row) became a target of amusement...and cheeky play..
when some of the 'beautiful' performers walked over and gave him a hug, sat on his lap and a big kiss on the cheek!
(despite the fact that his gf was just sitting next to him). Everyone
just laughed and laughed...
The show was good..an experience not to be missed if you have time in Bangkok to watch it!

Michael Losier's Law of Attraction Seminar @ Rennaisance KL
|
|
This is one of the best decisions I have made all weekend..."life changing'" experience.
This phrase kept replaying in my mind whole Friday morning when KC said that he would surely go if he was back in Malaysia. It is rare to have such an opportunity to listen to Michael Losier at the discounted price of RM299. "Should I go??", my mind kept debating. "I have activities
lined up on Saturday and there is so much work to do...not forgetting study backlogs and discussion board postings for the past 2 weeks!..."
Perhaps LOA has its way of attracting the positive vibes. I decided firmly that I would move all the activities...had to make some sacrifices (perhaps small money loss), but even as I wake up today (Sunday, 1st Nov 2009), I felt that attending the seminar was one of the BEST things ever done!
I feel that I am riding at Frequency 95 FM (positive positive!) despite other people around me
feeling low at 30 FM. Yesterday itself, I spread LOA to friends..shared this knowledge with
people who may not know, and even with this dear friend *winks* who was the one who introduced this
book to me (I owe him a coffee at least - Thanks so much!) for being blessed to be introduced to a "life changing" decision. The law has been around us all this while, but now that being given the tools to change and make changes in our life, it is up to us to take the step forth to make the positive change...
to attract positive vibes and ultimately, positive results.
The 9am- 5pm whole day seminar passed by in a breeze as everyone enjoyed the activities, participations, learning..and most importantly, personal satisfaction seeing acknowledging
and building up our own desire statements to ATTRACT our IDEAL xxx.
I will look back at this day as a day of change (RESET), and if I should ever forget,
I know that I can always refer back to the source and be reinforced and reaffirmed
with the power of LOA.

KLCoE F&P Halloween Party @ Soho Solaris KL
|
|
My first ever Halloween Party!
IBM KL CoE Finance and Planning (F&P) organised its first ever Halloween Party at Envy Club (behind Haegen Daaz ice cream opposite Coffee Bean) at Solaris, Mont Kiara...
Awesome place to be for yuppies..who just wanna be out for a drink, dance...
dress up and let go...
Would you believe that Megan Giles, our KL F&P Finance Leader (from NZ) dressed up as Paris Hilton? That's great...so nice to see our managers all so sporting and having a great time.
Even Wong CC (my 2nd line manager i.e. my 1st line manager's boss) challenged another manager to a beer drinking session! I had good fun..taking pix..not so much of games.. but
to be there, be supportive of the efforts done by the Climate Team committee (Climate team is a team setup by KL F&P to organise fun activities for KL Coe F&P) .
It feels wonderful to dress up, put some makeup on, feel pretty, be happy, be FREE !
One of the events was a donut eating competition..it was sooo funny..
5 volunteers were to eat a donut from a string. Only the guys took up the challenge, and it was so funny seeing them push each other around while trying to grab a bite from the swinging donuts. What humour.
Each person was given a gambling card upon entry. This was part of a game.
Everyone was supposed to walk up to someone else and challenge the other to a dare or something (be it singing or anything else we can think of). Upon winning the bet, we would get the other party's card.
Losing the dare/bet would result in the latter gaining our card instead.
The person with the highest no of cards would win an ipod. Not bad eh..
We have our very own Finance local talent, Alex...who has been singing for the past 10 years in singing competitions..and he released his very own Chinese album and recently, an Elvis one.
He mesmerized all of us with some Elvis hits..including "Unforgettable"...aww..
The music made me feel like dancing to the night..with someone special (I am in a dream ..)...
It was a wonderful night...it started off a tiny bit stressful with the rain and traffic jam, and we were late
But once getting there, everything turned out well .. and we weren't that late after all!

Ti Kean and Poh Kim's wedding
|
|
Ti Kean's getting married today!
In fact, Ti Kean's already married over a year...just that it didn't feel like it at all...until the actual
Chinese Wedding ceremony. Aww.. when I received the itinerary, I felt that I was still living in a dream..disbelief that my friend has actually moved on to the next phase in life. Aww...
At 8.30am, most of us gathered at Ti Kean's place. All Heng Tais were already there, all smartly dressed and ready for the action. It would not be complete without the sunglasses and cool black hats - men in black.. haha... I felt that it was a fantastic idea!
It has been a memorable day to remember..
Can't help being touched when Ti Kean came up the stage and openly declared his love for Kim
and how she has made his life complete. Aww...
Chinese Wedding dinner at Xin Cuisince, Concorde Hotel, KL
Weddings...marriage life... a new phase in life... an exciting and happy journey ahead...

Day tour around KL with Ajit (KL City-Putrajaya)
|
|
Ajit, my U21Global MBA classmate for Marketing came down to KL for an Engineering seminar on automation this week. We have been classmates before, but never met in person until this very day, Friday 23rd October 2009. I took a day off to spend time with my friend
Eventful day indeed.. did so many things...
Some photos are with Ajit, so I am populating mine first here...
Recap of the day's events:
Friday (23rd October 2009)
Morning : Met Ajit at Park Royal Hotel, Bukit Bintang KL around 8.30am. Had Chinese local hawker food at Petaling Street. Lo han guo dessert at the famous stall at the end of the road. Shopping at Central Market for Malaysian art-craft souvenirs
Afternoon: Lunch at KLCC. My plan was to take Ajit to Madam Kwan's! Didn't work out...
Ajit wanted KFC. .. haha Walked over to Trader's Hotel to sit down and rest, then out under the sun around KLCC park before we settled for ice-kacang at the KLCC food court.
Evening: Took LRT back to Bangsar station, where we hopped into Tiffany's car...
and off we went to Putrajaya. The weather was threatening as it was cloudy.
Pray, do not rain so quickly! Despite being caught in jam (and took several wrong turnings), we made
our way to Putrajaya safely..and enjoyed scenic views...
Even had a personal tour guide at the Putra Mosque...
Had to dress myself up in a pink cloak (as a mark of respect when visiting a holy place).
Our initial plan was to take the Putrajaya Lake Cruise, but it started to drizzle...
We took some snapshots here and there..but made it back to our car before the showers became too heavy.
Dinner : Back to Pavilion food court... We had our dinner at Ichiban Ramen,
and finally headed back to drop Ajit at his hotel, after which Tiffany and I drove back to PJ.
Saturday (24th October 2009)
Woke up with a not-too-good stomach and thought of cancelling plans.
Finally, I stil went... and we had an earlier lunch at Kim Gary, Sungai Wang.
Before that, I did a round of shopping at Central Market to buy back souvenirs for Ajit..as
sadly, he misplaced it somewhere yesterday
We shook hands and said goodbye around 1.30pm, and I left back for home.
All in all, glad to have met my friend...and it is indeed nice to get away from the office..
I certainly hoped for the break for so long
p/s: More photos taken earlier using Ajit's camera.. have to wait for him to send them over

|
|
I love visiting new places. Somewhere not too far...closer to home...
I came across this cosy place tucked in Damansara Perdana - Maria's Restaurant.
Situated on the level 3 (note that it's NOT Level 3A) above Citibank at Metropolitan Square office/residences.. there lies a restaurant secluded..but cosy and nice..
Reasonable set lunches pricing at RM15.90 onwards...
Tffany and I enjoyed our set lunch priced at RM18.90 = NZ Rack of lamb + softdrink + desser (chocolate muffin)

Sunday Lunch Buffet at Rakuzan, Chulan Square
|
|
In conjunction with the long Hari Raya holidays...we took this opportunity to celebrate !
1. Chui Yee's birthday is next week! (Sun, 27th Sept 2009 - hence celebration in advance)
2. Mun's back from Indonesia for a short break
3. Long holidays for all... rest and relax
4. Get together cum reunion for DJ-ians
Everyone enjoyed the spread (*phew* good choice!). As the buffet is ala carte style - order as we eat...
the Japanese food was good...fresh sashimi, delicious sushi / maki... really worth the
money spent - RM55 excluding tax per pax.
We all enjoyed ourselves...maximising lunch hour - 12pm to 3pm (last call 2.45pm)
Khai Wee had his "JUST 3 scoops" of ice cream to conclude the grand finale of lunch hour
Seng Fatt had put it in a funny way... Nike's "Just do it!" is replaced with Khai Wee's "Just 3 scoops!"
This is really good place for Japanese food...recommended!

|
|
I wanted to learn different things...as a pastime, or even as a leisure activity..to relax and getaway
from work - study - stress.
Origami came up as one of the activities that caught my eye in a BGF News...
affordable RM15/session for a one-half hour of fun
Tiffany and I started joining this...our 2nd session...
and we're hooked on to making more and more
Can't say I remember much after doing it, but it is really fun.
