Happy New Year 2010!
Just a quick family planning that we just felt like driving a bit out of PJ;
for me, I rather have the drive out of town for a while and try new food...
Instead of paying for expensive meals in a restaurant in the city, why not take a breezy drive out..
and Klang was one of the ideas we had - for seafood!
Bobok and Uncle Mok convoyed from behind, and off we went to Pandamaran for "Pork-free" seafood.
It was good!! That concludes my simple family dinner celebration this year
The Fried Ice-cream menu was catchy..I simply had to save some stomach for dessert.
But, we got conned...the menu showed individual ice-creams in a place (looked so yummy), but looked what turned out as the real thing! It was nice though...but we all had a laugh (it's RM2.50 each, ok? and listed as 'open item' in the receipt)
HAPPY NEW YEAR and this is a START OF MANY HAPPY THINGS to come!

Pre-Xmas Celebration @ Bubba Gump Shrimp, The Curve
|
|
Initially this was planned as a meet-up after so long...since the Rakuzen makan...
with the whole DJ-gang.
Not everyone turned up, but we still had lots of fun.
Who came?
Ti Kean & Kim, Seng Fatt, Senan, Chuan Jye & Janice, Hau Jie, Roy, and myself...
This place was pretty 'cute'...well, one can't expect much from Forest Gump's setting...
where the cutlery is CHEAP - food being served on 'newspapers' and Senan's food in a pail-look alike
dish. It was fun.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
Glad for the meet up
Managed to snap some pix at 1Utama just before leaving for the Curve...

Visit downtown to enjoy the Christmas decos in KL city!
|
|
Christmas is always one of the best times of the year - actually I never really thought too much of it, until this year when I was truly involved in Christmas performances It really sparked me up.
Since I have my 2-days off and to give myself a break after a long weekend of exams and reflective postings, I wanted to take a day of to enjoy the Christmas decos in the city - thinking that it would make a wonderful album if I take pictures of Christmas decorations in the biggest malls in Klang Valley Nice pictures to treasure.
I brought mum, Shaun and Wayne out for an outing as we whisked through Berjaya Times Square, Sg Wang, Low Yat, Lot 10, Pavillion and finally walking to KLCC.
It was a fun day out..we had Crispy Kreme donuts! (I have never had it even in Australia!).
It was quite alright..a bit too sweet for me..
We had a fun day...taking lots of photos..enjoying the city on a weekday when everyone else is busy at work
Pavillion wins hands down for me! Love their decos!

It was Mark and Mei's Big Day today!
M&M... such a sweet and memorable event... we even got M&Ms chocolates as door gifts... ain't that sweet!
For me, it was a great thing RSVPing "YES" as I had a chance to meet up with many friends whom I haven't seen in more than a year! So nice to see familiar faces... colleagues whom I have had chance to work with, spent time together in office last time, share ideas, hang out.. etc etc.
A statement which really describes it : "People meet together when there's a wedding".
I had hoped to meet some old friends, and am glad that I met many Many friends!
It just felt like the 1 1/2 years away had gone by in a whoosh... and it felt so nice catching up, exchanging updates...
Congratulations to Mark and Mei! They look so perfect together Aww...
Mark's speech can leaves a feeling so warm and nice... so romantic...

Christmas concert at PJ Civic Hall, PJ
|
|
Imagine a chance to share the stage with stars such as Jacklyn Victor, Patrick Leong, Juvita...
and violinist Joanne Yeoh?
It felt like a dream come true... to be among the performers.. to sing Christmas carols and feel so christmasy...
This marks our main Christmas show for the year 2009, with previous mini performances at the Curve (Sat, 5 Dec 2009) and Mid Valley (12 Dec 2009). I made it to Mid Valley, but not the one at the Curve...it was truly a mini one as a favour to Metrojaya while we entertained the crowds.
But, the Christmas show was the main real thing. We were the opening act singing our
National Anthem (Negaraku) and Selangor state anthem... and coming back in again
dressed in our pretty red scarfs to perform all the wonderful Christmas carols -
from the classic pieces of "A Bach Christmas (duet with "Air" on G), The First Noel (duet accompaniment by the Strings performers, to Pachelbel's Canon in D... I so love this one).
Other famous lively Christmas pieces were added in:
- Sing Merry Christmas
- The Best Time of the Year
- Winter Wonderland
- Rudolph
- Jingle Bell Rock etc etc...
Christmas spirit is in the air...
I fell in love with the violin.... the music... the Christmas celebration...
Happy Christmas and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Leion and Nicole's wedding @ Rawang
|
|
My first wedding in Rawang... first IBM colleague's wedding as well.
Not only the first for all those, but my first wedding lunch too!
Imagine getting the full-set of Chinese cuisines, but all during the lunch... starting at 2.30pm.
The food was good, just that it is a bit heavy meal for lunch (for me, since that morning itself, I
had a makan-makan session with Brian and our friends at Paramount)
However, this occasion is to celebrate a special day for my friend, Nicole and her husband, Leion.
This toast is to wish them well, happiness and prosperity !!!

Keith and Lisa's Wedding
|
|
Another family wedding...our eldest cousin on my father's amily side is married!
Auntie Sally's eldest son, Keith is married. We received the good news about a month ago when the family came over to deliver the wedding invitation and cakes.
Due to the rush for good dates and wedding dinner venues, it was hard to secure a hotel in KL as this is indeed the season for weddings!
Hence, the wedding dinner was held at a Chinese restaurant within PJ - Extra Super Tanker
in the new Bukit Kiara Golf Club...about 10 mins away from 1U.
Just a bit about the morning ceremony...
We gathered at Auntie Sally's place around 9.30am, while awaiting for the groom to fetch the bride.
Around 11am, the loud car honks greeted the narrow and quiet neighbourhood, signaling a
big joyous occasion was about to happen.
Tea ceremony..followed by buffet lunch...catching up with relatives, uncles-aunties and cousins..
Finally, home around 2pm.
Dinner was nice... liked the door gift !
Uncle William was really happy...drinking merrily...

Visiting Grand Palace and Piak's wedding dinner @ Grant Hyatt
|
|
It was a wonderful day trip for us to the Grand Palace.
Well, nice..and not-oh-so-nice in certain aspects. We had some kind of adventure too!
The tuk-tuk student guy took us for a ride...
What happened was we were trying to hail a cab from Connor's hotel (Prince Palace) and this guy walked up to us offering to take us around for 1 hour for just THB10 (RM1?).
We relented after hearing that the Grand Palace was only going to open around 1pm, and that we would visit other places (as his suggestion) in the morning. It was around 11-ish when we started on our journey.
We went on a ride to Golden Mount, where we took a few candid shots up the hill.
On the way down, we had this feeling that there was some hidden catch somewhere, and that the price just seemed "not right". We agreed to ask the guy to take us directly to Grand Palace and to stop this travelling around. He told us that he was a student trying to earn money for his studies...blah blah...maybe it's real..I'm not sure.
He (the tuk-tuk driver) asked whether we could stop at the Export Centre to view souvenirs while he queued up for gasoline coupons, and then we would move on. Ok, we agreed...
but little did we know, we were brought to a jewellery store! Sigh...it was a waste of time..
By then, we were getting a little irritated and demanded to go straight to our destination.
He asked for one more time! Another place!!! This time, his deal was that there was no charge to the Grand Palace for the Tuk-tuk ride. *Fine* Our hearts were thinking...we would just spend another 15 mins in another souvenir shop. Fortunately that one was better, and we were able to buy some souvenirs. When he asked for the 3rd time, it was the last straw. A big stern "NO" ensued from our lips, and we were taken to our destination... and we walked away.. He sped off without a thank you..
I guess he knew that he had upsetted us a lot, and guess what..the Grand Palace was actually opened to visitors as early as 8.30pm. What a ride!!!
The only consolation is that we got a free tuk-tuk ride.
The Grand Palace was a sight to behold. Interesting architecture... golden carvings...
interesting displays of art...with hidden stories...
We took lots of pictures here.
Another adventure? We were trying to get a cab back to the city, when an old lady feeding the birds handed Connor 3 bags of nuts and said "Take it..take it.. feed the birds". Connor just did it, and suddenly..this lady (looks like a nice old grandma) turned "evil" and demanded Connor to PAY!!
She became violent and grabbed Connor's hand...forcing him to cough out at least THB20.
This was too much..we just wanted to get out of the place pronto!
The day ended well on a positive note - for sure!
It was Piak's wedding - the main objective of my visiting Bangkok (which I am so glad I did!)
Piak and Pond looked so stunning and right together..aww...
Can't believe Piak is married! We were all together once again..wished Hitomi was here too.
We met Nuch too...she's has changed and looks so pretty
Thai Chinese Wedding tradition is a bit different from home..but it is an experience I will never forget!
Thank you all...it was a sad parting for us at the end of the dinner, but a reunion of friends after 5 long years (for Piak and me) was certanly worth this journey!
The last few pictures were taken at the airport. Tiffany and I left for KL on Monday, 23rd Nov 2009
on the 1.50pm flight. To remember the nice moments, we took a few pix to capture the Thai moments before our flight. Wonderful trip...
Bangkok is a nice place! Good for shopping, visitting, meeting friends, massage, relaxation etc etc.
Winter is a good time to visit...what great luck

Chatuchak Market and Dinner/Ice cream with friends @CentralWorld
|
|
We started off our day at Chatuchak market. Oh wow..it's like a market with anything and everything you want to buy under the sun!
Art craft, food, clothes, decorative, interesting items, accessories, scarves etc etc..you name it, it's all there! We were definitely spoilt for choice...if you buy in bulk, you can get them at wholesale price, but walking from lane to lane is endless.
The weather was hot, and my legs were aching from my sandles. Ouch! Should have worn proper shoes, so I was scampering around quite a bit, looking for mini benches or stools where I could sit for a few seconds before walking about again.
Despite the pain, I am still game for shopping...all the way and no shopping?
Bought accessories, clothes.. tried some local food and drinks. Their coconut drink is nice...and fresh squeeze oranges - yum!
Evening :
We met Piak and the gang at Central World, at a Thai restaurant on 7th floor by the name of Nara at 7.30pm. We enjoyed delicious authentic Thai cuisine... nice nice...
And if that's not enough, we proceeded on to have dessert. See my chocolate ice cream?!
Really rich..it's a double-scoop of "Chocolate Lovers" with wafer. A bit pricey, but I was sharing with Tiffany as the chocolate is sweet, and oh-so rich.
